Summary
EBSCO is discontinuing its current support for Clever Single Sign On (SSO) as of May 30, 2025. School districts using Clever for authentication will be contacted by EBSCO for alternative options.
After ongoing discussions and efforts to renegotiate more sustainable terms, EBSCO was unable to establish a new agreement with Clever, and made the decision to phase out the single sign on (SSO) integration in its current form.
EBSCO is working with schools that actively use Clever for authentication to configure alternative access methods and ensure students experience minimal disruption. Most districts will be disconnected between May 26 and May 30. Some districts that have set up Clever but haven’t used it since February 2024 may already be disconnected.
EBSCO remains committed to supporting simple, scalable authentication for K–12 districts and schools. They are planning a more straightforward integration for Clever SSO that will be more sustainable and easier to set up. EBSCO staff are actively working on these plans, and anticipate releasing a new Clever integration later this year. As of mid-May they do not have enough information to provide a firm release date, but will update their roadmap when they do.
In the meantime, EBSCO is available to help you transition with as little disruption as possible. This EBSCO Connect article will provide recommendations on how to proceed. You can also contact Customer Support for assistance.
